December 2004
I am in the process
of renovating my web page. I will send out an email when it is
ready. In the meantime...here's my favorite from last month.
November 2004
After two months
of computer problems, I am ready to go again. I am starting with
the photo below, which is the finished piece of a piece I posted
back in August. If you scroll down to August you can see the changes
made for the completed piece. This piece is now in an exhibition
in Mexico City.
September 2004
This is a new
lamp I engraved on a form blown this summer at Pilchuck. There
are 4 views of the lamp.

August 2004
I had a great
time at Pilchuck this year, as always.
During the class,
I made some graal pieces that I will show below...

The following
piece is a work still in progress. I engraved the statue of Chac-mol,
Mayan God, on a flat piece of glass. Then I reheated the engraving,
and picked it up on a hot bubble on the blow pipe, and blew the
form. I put white glass over black glass on the surface. I can
now return to the engraver and add more engraving outside of the
original engraving.
I am also happy
to say that I did a collaboration with another instructor, Davide
Salvadore, from Murano, Italy. I engraved a cup shaped blank with
roman columns and the statue of David. Davide then made up his
cane work, and dropped into the preheated cup, and blew the piece
out.

One more to show
you. I tried a new combination of colors. This piece has blue
and white on the surface, and a layer of transparent brown on
the inside. I engrave the front, then turn it around and engrave
away the brown in specific ares to give another tone to the lamp.
July 2004
July's piece of the month
will remain until mid August as I will be at Pilchuck teaching
a class...
Working more with the
idea of illuminated rock pieces, I have come up with a "frame"
for the piece that also houses the light source. The wood is mahogany,
and the interior white is painted plywood. They can be wired direct
or with the cord and switch as shown. There are 5 fotos of two
different pieces.
